Eliza Fairchild Kale - A Q's first wife - died 1910 at age 36

This picture has already been posted; however, this one is from Ruby Kale's copy of the book. Her handwritten note in the margin reads, "Dad's first wife the one who adopted me." A Q and Eliza adopted Ruby.

There is only several pictures in the Kale Collection (from Mary Kale Huss) that have Ruby in them. according to Mary Huss, Ruby never married.

Eliza died in 1910 and A Q married Kate Burgin in 1912, I think... As for Ruby's status, I don't know. Oddly enough, in Eliza's obituary Feb 4, 1910 in th Gastonia Gazette, Ruby is NOT mentioned. I'll have to work on that.

Thanks Richard, was Ruby an orphan? I assume that Eliza died and A.Q. remarried?

I've tried to clear up confusion. Is this any better?

Well, that's very interesting (even though I don't quite understand the history behind the statement). Thanks Richard for sharing it with us.
