As long as I can remember the "Three Little Kittens" cookie jar was always on top of the kitchen cabinet, just out of a kids easy reach (we weren't allowed to touch the jar, Mom would always get it down, take the lid off and we would reach in and get our cookie). Mom would always bake cookies that she would put in the cookie jar. My brother, sister and I would each get a cookie after our meals. My favorite ones were the peanut butter cookies. She would use a fork and make a cross pattern on the top. I still have the old cookie jar which should be past down to my sister's daughter. It's a McCoy cookie jar, worth more in memories than money. The first picture is from 1959 at my birthday party at our house on Church Street, the cookie jar can be seen on top of the cabinet.
