From the David Foster Collection

The Town Crier March 1957

Ely & Walker conducted a safety contest, lasting the entire year of 1956 and based on points for the best lost-time accident record, the best severity experience and the best cost record. The plaque was awarded by quarters, to the plants receiving the most points during a specific quarter. At the end of the year the plant having the most points, Carolinian, was awarded the plaque permanently.
Standing behind the plaque are girls of the office force, left to right, Joan Mason, Inez Armstrong, Jean Ramsey, Helen Rice and Wilma Long.
The plaque will be hung in the canteen.
