House Struck By Lightning July 30, 1954

These two pictures are from the David Foster collection, they were in "The Town Crier" July 30, 1954. In the second picture, there's a Gaston Gazette on the table with the headline, "Storms Break Heatwave". The article is as follows:

HOUSE STRUCK BY LIGHTNING

The residence of Mr. and Mrs. Carl Gore on Church Street was struck by lightning in a recent late afternoon storm. Their three children and a nursemaid were in the house when the lightning struck the chimney and ran down into the room where they were sitting, knocking a mirror from the wall and damaging the sheet rock and mantle.
Fortunately no one was hurt or shocked, only scared.
There was no television antenna on the chimney, but elsewhere in this issue will be found suggestions for safe installation of TV antennas to prevent attacting lightning.
