St. John's Episcopal Church in High Shoals is now beening served by Rev. Claude A. Collins. Rev. Collins, his wife, Dorothy, and their two sons, S. Graham, 9, and David R., 11, are making
their home at the St. Andrew's Rectory in Bessemer City,
Rev. Collins, who is also serving St. Andrew's Church in Bessemer City, and Trinity in Kings
Mountain, in addition to St. John's, comes to his present pastorate from the School of Theology
of the University of the South in Sewanne, Tennessee. He has been there for three years and
prior to that had been in business for fifteen years. He also attended Warren Wilson College in
Swannoah, N.C. and Berea College in Berea Ky.
He spent three years with the United States Army, twenty seven months of that time in overseas duty. He is a member of the Masons, member of the Optimists, and a member of the Lions Club.
At present services are being conducted at 7:00P.M. on Sunday evenings, but Rev. Collins has hopes of conducting family services and Sunday School on Sunday mornings in the near future.
The public is cordially invited to attend services at St. John's especially those who have been associated with the church in former years. Rev. Collins states that he is delighted to be associated with a church with such a colorful history and that with the help and prayers of others he hopes to soon have a church which will be serving the people of the community."
