The Goatman

The goatman came through the area many times. David C. Heavner heard that The Goatman had just past through High Shoals and was heading to Lincolnton. He left his hardware store(Ramseur Hardware in Lincolnton, NC) with camera in hand. He found him on Highway 150 where he shot these two pictures. High Shoals residents have told me that they remember him coming through. Everyone would stop and watch as he past. He always had words of wisdom and a Bible verse to quote. Half of his goats would pull his wagon while the others would follow behind. Photo is from about 1950.
